- Blogger.com appears on the web and was one of the first popular weblog publishing tools.
- Craigslist.com began as San Francisco's email list of art events. Today Craigslist has become an online classified ads-listing company.

- Google.com handles over 100 million queries a day.
- On the average 52 million adults are online.
- There are 25.6 million web sites by year end.
2001
- Apple Computer introduces the iPod.
2002
- 65% of American children between the ages of 12 to 17 use the Internet. This percentage is up from 41% in the year 2000.
2003
- Friendster.com and MySpace.com are launched. These two sites, known as social networking sites' is now in our vocabulary.
- The one-millionth iPod was sold.
2004
- The term 'Podcasting' is the dubbed name for audio blogging.
- How-to articles began to appear.
- In a typical day there were 128 million U.S. adults online.
2005
- There were 79 million U.S. and 168 million worldwide Ebay.com members.
- There are 40 million membersaccessing MySpace.com.
- 87% of the 12 to 17 year olds access the Internet.
- Technorati tracks 22.9 million blogs.
- Each month on Craigslist.com 10 million members seach 6.5 million classified postings.
